“Terrorist Attack” On Russian Military Leaves At Least 11 Dead & 15 Wounded

Belgorod: In a terrorist attack on a Russian military installation in the Belgorod region on Saturday, as many as 11 people were killed and 15 others were wounded. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, two volunteer soldiers were killed after they opened fire on other soldiers at a Russian military firing range close to Ukraine.

The incident happened in the southwest Russian region of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, according to a statement from the ministry. According to the report, during target practice, two volunteers from an unknown former Soviet country opened fire on other soldiers before being killed in retaliation.

However, the event was classified as a “terrorist attack” by the ministry.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the assault took place on Saturday during a training session at the Western Military District. Former Soviet states were allegedly the origins of the shooters. Officials from Russia have classified the attack as a terrorist act.

In western Russia, close to the Ukrainian border, is the Belgorod region.

The incident takes place in the midst of a hastily organised mobilisation that President Vladimir Putin ordered to bolster Russian forces in Ukraine. This action sparked protests and forced hundreds of thousands to escape Russia.
