This temple has been intact in the sea for hundreds of years, know where it is

New Delhi: This temple is located in Tabanan, Bali Island, Indonesia. The name of this temple in the local language is “Tanah Lot”. Which means the land is in the sea. The specialty of this temple is that is has been battered by sea tides and salt water for hundreds of years, but it remains intact.

This temple is situated on a huge rock in the sea. This temple is said to have been built by Dang Hang Nirath in 16th AD. While traveling along the southern coast in vain, he saw the beautiful position of that rock-island and rested there. While resting, he saw some fishermen and gave them a gift.

After that Nirath also spent the night on that small island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and asked them to build a temple on that rock. Because he felt that it was a sacred place to worship the sea gods on the journey to Bali.

The main deity of the temple is Dev Varun or Bhatara Segara in local language. It means sea god or sea power. Nirath is also worshipped here nowadays. The temple has been protected by the help of the Japanese government from falling rocks in ancient times.
