New Delhi: World Kidney Day is a health campaign that is observed every year on the second Thursday of March. The day has been observed every year since 2006 and is significant as it provides for the advocacy of good kidney health for all.

World Kidney Day 2023: History

The idea behind the celebration of the first International Kidney Day was based on the theme “Are your kidneys okay?” Since then, the day has focused on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), the impact of diabetes, blood pressure, and other health issues on these organs, as well as the health of women and children. Now, the emphasis has shifted to prevention and detection at an early stage.
