CRPF Provides Armoured Vehicles to Help Groom Stuck in Heavy Snow in Kashmir

Srinagar: Bulletproof armoured vehicles were provided by the CRPF to a desperate young groom stuck in the snow to fetch his bride in Jammu and Kashmir.

The groom reached the bride’s home for marriage in a bulletproof vehicle and later returned home in the same vehicle along with the bride.

This incident occurred on Wednesday, when the whole valley was covered by thick snow disrupting modes of transportation. Mukhtar Ahmad Poswal, the groom from Branpathri village in south Kashmir’s Tral, was not in a position to reach his bride’s home at Gutroo village, some 20km away by road. Both villages are located in the mountains of Tral, once a militancy hotbed. Mukhtar initially rode a horse and then opted for a shorter mule trek to his bride’s home. But when snow made the journey almost impossible, his family called up the 180 Bn of the CRPF for help.

The CRPF personnel came with three to four armoured vehicles to rescue the groom and his relatives. The armoured vehicle, carrying the groom, travelled on the snow-covered road. A snow-clearing machine led clearing the path.

The groom stayed at the bride’s home for more than an hour for the marriage ceremony. Then CRPF again took the groom and his bride back to their village, reported The Telegraph.
