Amritpal Singh Declared Fugitive, Fresh FIR Filed

Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Sunday filed a fresh FIR against radical preacher Amritpal Singh, who has been declared a fugitive after launching a state-wide crackdown on elements of Waris Punjab De on Saturday.

Singh is on the run as the state police has launched a massive manhunt to nab him. Amritpal’s ancestral village, Jallu Kheda, has been turned into a fortress and section 144 has been imposed in various districts to avoid protests and violence.

According to reports, seven associates of the Waris Punjab De founder have been arrested by the controversial Khalistani preacher.

Punjab Police has also warned against fake news and speeches being circulated on social media over the ongoing crackdown by cops and security forces on Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his aides.

Seventy-eight persons have been arrested so far, while several others have been detained for questioning. An FIR dated February 24 stands registered against WPD elements for the attack on Ajnala Police Station.
