Baba Bageshwar Claims Nepal Was Historically Part of India, Stirs Controversy

Kathmandu: Acharya Dhirendra Shastri, popularly known as Baba Bageshwar, recently visited Nepal at the invitation of the Chaudhary Group. His visit sparked controversy after he stated that Nepal had historically been an integral part of India.

This statement caused widespread upset among Nepalese citizens, and several of Baba Bageshwar’s planned meetings with political figures were abandoned. However, he did meet with Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

Baba Bageshwar also gathered a substantial following at Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, where he spoke about his views on Hinduism and Nepal’s political situation. His speeches were met with both support and opposition, and he was criticized by some for his controversial views on women and marginalized groups.
