“Ready to Face Legal Action”: Udhayanidhi Stalin Stands Firm on ‘Sanatana Dharma’ Comment

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has defended his recent comments on Sanatana dharma, accusing the BJP of misinterpreting his remarks. He expressed his readiness to face any legal action resulting from his statements.

The controversy erupted when Udhayanidhi Stalin, a minister in the DMK government, compared Sanatana dharma to diseases like “dengue” and “malaria” and called for its eradication. This sparked outrage, with the BJP and other opposition parties criticizing his remarks.

Despite the backlash, Udhayanidhi Stalin stood firm on his stance, stating that he had merely criticized Sanatana Dharma and advocated for its elimination. He emphasized that his intent was not to call for genocide but to address the issues faced by marginalized communities due to Sanatana Dharma’s principles.

Responding to accusations from BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya, Udhayanidhi Stalin clarified that he never advocated for the genocide of Sanatana dharma followers. Instead, he argued that Sanatana dharma perpetuates divisions based on caste and religion, and uprooting it is a step towards promoting humanity and equality.

In the midst of the controversy, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared a video of Tamil Nadu Congress chief KS Alagiri, who had spoken about the alliance’s goal to “destroy” Sanatana dharma in the state.

Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized the BJP for twisting his statements and spreading fake news, suggesting it was a diversionary tactic. He reaffirmed the DMK’s policy of promoting equality and change, emphasizing the importance of his party’s stance in the context of the “One clan, one God” principle.
