5 Passengers Injured as Charminar Express Derails at Telangana’s Nampally Railway Station

Hyderabad: At least five passengers suffered minor injuries when three coaches of the Charminar Express derailed at Hyderabad’s Nampally Railway Station on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 9:15 am, reportedly due to the train overshooting the platform at the terminal station.

The Nampally Railway Station, serving as the train’s terminal station, witnessed the derailment when the train overshot its designated stopping point. The affected coaches include S2, S3, and S6. Approximately five individuals standing near the doors sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the railway hospital, according to Rakesh, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the South Central Railway.

The Hyderabad Deccan railway station marks the final destination for the Charminar Express. Officials from the South Central Railway noted that the train was moving at a slow speed upon arrival at the station, and its overshooting of the last point led to the derailment, causing a jerk that resulted in six passenger injuries, as per PTI.

The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, confirmed a South Central Railway official. The Charminar Express had departed from Chennai on Tuesday evening and reached Hyderabad before the unfortunate incident occurred.

An inquiry will be initiated to determine the precise cause of the derailment, added the railway official.
