Goods Train Derails Near Padua Station in Odisha’s Koraput, No Casualties Reported

Koraput: At least six wagons of a goods train derailed near Padua railway station in Koraput district of Odisha on Thursday. Luckily, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

The iron ore-laden train was travelling from Bacheli in Chhattisgarh to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh when the mishap occurred.

Thankfully, passenger train services on the route remain unaffected. Due to the double tracks near the derailment site, passenger trains are being diverted to the unaffected track, ensuring minimal disruption to their schedules.

“Movement of passenger trains is functioning normally,” confirmed a senior railway official.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.

This incident comes a month after an engine trolley of the Visakhapatnam-Bhawanipatna passenger train derailed while departing Kottavalasa station on March 10th. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in that incident either.
