2 Killed, Dozens Injured As Van Carrying Marriage Party Falls Off Bridge In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: In a devastating incident today, a pickup van carrying members of a marriage party fell off a bridge at Khatalapadar in Odisha’s Koraput district.

Local authorities report that at least two people were killed and twelve others sustained injuries in the incident. The ill-fated vehicle, which was reportedly overloaded with around 40 passengers, was travelling from Dhalapur village to Nuagaon village within Koraput district.

The driver reportedly lost control of the van, causing it to veer off the bridge. Firefighters and emergency personnel rushed to the scene to rescue the victims.

Among the injured, three are said to be in critical condition and have been transferred to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. The remaining injured are receiving care at Kundura Hospital.

While the official investigation is underway, initial reports suggest that the driver losing control of the overloaded vehicle might be the cause of the accident.
