3 Killed, 13 Injured in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: A horrific road accident near Bijapur Square in Koraput district on Friday claimed the lives of at least three people, including two women, and left 13 others injured. The afternoon collision involved an SUV, an auto-rickshaw, and two motorcycles, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Eyewitnesses recounted a tragic sequence of events. The speeding SUV reportedly first struck a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction, then violently rear-ended an auto-rickshaw, and within seconds, slammed into another motorbike. The impact launched both the SUV and the auto-rickshaw off the road, where they landed in a nearby field.

Three individuals lost their lives on the spot, while the remaining 13 victims sustained varying degrees of injuries. They were promptly rushed to the nearest hospital, and four critically injured individuals were later transferred to the SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput for advanced care.

Local authorities have initiated a probe into the crash, aiming to determine the cause and establish any potential negligence. The tragic incident highlights the urgent need for improved road safety measures in the region, including stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and increased awareness campaigns to promote responsible driving practices.
