Strategic Trust Eroded: India and China Seek Resolutions at BRICS NSAs’ Meet

In a recent meeting between India and China, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval expressed concern over the prolonged military stand-off in eastern Ladakh, which has led to a decline in strategic trust between the two nations. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the BRICS NSAs’ gathering in Johannesburg, where both sides acknowledged the significance of their bilateral relationship for the region and the world.

During the meeting, Doval emphasized the need to resolve the border stalemate and restore peace and tranquility in the region to normalize bilateral ties. He urged continued efforts to remove impediments hindering the improvement of relations.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had also met with China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, in Jakarta, where he stressed the importance of addressing outstanding issues related to peace and tranquility in the border areas.

Both sides agreed to enhance strategic mutual trust, focus on cooperation, and overcome obstacles to bring their bilateral relations back on track for sound and stable development.

The meeting underscores the significance of resolving the border situation to foster a more stable and positive relationship between India and China.
