Indian Micro Artist Sets Guinness World Record for Smallest Wooden Spoon

Renowned micro artist Shashikant Prajapati from India has set a new world record recognized by Guinness World Records for crafting the smallest wooden spoon ever made. Measuring a mere 1.6 millimetres (0.06 inches) in length, this miniature marvel is a to-scale replica of a standard wooden spoon, featuring a discernible bowl and handle. Prajapati meticulously carved the spoon from a single piece of wood, employing a craft knife and surgical tool to achieve remarkable precision.

His journey to this achievement wasn’t without challenges. Prajapati devoted considerable time to refining his technique, crafting over 10 versions of the spoon before achieving the final record-breaking iteration. Expressing the difficulty of the task, he shared with Guinness World Records his satisfaction in overcoming the hurdles to produce a spoon smaller than 2 mm.

The internet’s response to Prajapati’s feat has been overwhelmingly positive. Comments on the video posted by Guinness World Records on Instagram range from admiration to humour, with users praising the artist’s skill and creativity. Notably, some users playfully suggested future challenges for Prajapati, such as crafting a 1.6 mm violin.

It’s worth noting that Prajapati’s accomplishment follows in the footsteps of another Indian artist, Navratan Prajapati Murtikar, who held the previous record with a spoon measuring 2 mm (0.07 inches) in 2022.
