Srinagar: Human Rights activist Shehla Rashid recently commended the efforts of the Narendra Modi-led Central government and the Lt. Governor of Jammu & Kashmir for their positive impact on the region.
She had initially challenged the validity of the Article 370 abrogation but later withdrew her name from the petition. In August 2019, the Centre revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, dividing it into two Union territories.
However inconvenient it may be to admit this, the human rights record in Kashmir has improved under the @narendramodi government and @OfficeOfLGJandK administration. By a purely utilitarian calculus, the govt's clear stance has helped save lives overall. That's my angle. https://t.co/O6zpqHBOwT

In a notable gesture, Rashid reposted a video by Rayees Mattoo, who praised the BJP government for its developmental strides in J&K. Rayees Mattoo, brother of Hizbul terrorist Javed Mattoo, is an advocate for positive change in the region and waved the Indian tricolour on August 14 in a widely circulated video.
Rayees Mattoo expressed his heartfelt patriotism in the video, highlighting the remarkable progress and newfound opportunities in the region. He noted the transformation, emphasizing the return of normalcy and economic activities that were hampered by previous political manoeuvres. Mattoo shared his hope for his brother’s return from the path of terrorism, stating that the situation had evolved and Pakistan’s influence was diminishing.
