Mehrauli Murder Shadow: Man Kills Wife, Cuts Body Into Pieces In UP; Nabbed

Lucknow: Days after police unearth details behind Shraddha Walakar’s gruesome murder case in Delhi’s Mehrauli, another person has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur area for allegedly committing the same crime.

The Sitapur police has arrested the man, identified as Pankaj Maurya (46) for allegedly strangling his wife and cutting her body into pieces before disposing off them in a field with the help of a friend.

The police have also arrested the friend, who helped the accused.

According to police, the matter came to light after the cops recovered a woman’s torso, right hand, and legs from a field at Gulheria village under the Rampur Kalan police station on November 8.

Further probing the matter, deceased Jyoti’s mother identified the body seeing her clothes.

Later, police asked Pankaj about her wife’s whereabouts but he could not give any valid reason for her disappearance. During questioning, he confessed to having killed her.

The body parts were dumped in a field about seven km away from home. Pankaj had sent his two daughters and son to his uncle’s place before executing the crime, the accused said to police.

On Tuesday, a police team raided his house and recovered blood-stained clothes and a sharp-edged knife after which he was formally arrested.
