Minor Gang-Raped For 14-hrs in Palghar; 8 Arrested

Palghar: Eight men raped a minor girl in a village in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on the night in between Friday and Saturday. The eight accused men have been arrested by the police in this connection.

The incident took place on the night between Friday and Saturday when the accused first raped the girl and sexually assaulted the girl in an empty cottage in their beachside village before taking her to the sands where she was sexually assaulted by the men.

Palghar District Rural Police’s spokesperson said, “The victim said in her complaint filed on Saturday that her ordeal started at 8 PM on December 16 and lasted until 10 AM on December 17 during which the accused took her to an empty bungalow in Mahim village where they took turns to rape her. Later, they took her to the beach where they assaulted her sexually in the bushes once more.”

According to him, the police arrested the eight suspects on Sunday and filed a case against them under several sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 376 (D) (gang-rape), 366 (A) (procuration of minor girl), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
