New Delhi: Several leaders who had left the Congress party after Ghulam Nabi Azad’s resignation have rejoined the party, giving the Congress a significant boost in Jammu & Kashmir.

Along with Chand, other well-known figures who joined the Congress included former cabinet members Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Muzaffar Parray, and Balwan Singh.
Chand and Balwan Singh, among others, who were regarded as Ghulam Nabi Azad loyalists, had defected from the Congress to establish the Democratic Azad Party (DAP). But a handful of them were kicked out of the DAP by Azad last month for anti-party activities.
KC Venugopal, the AICC’s general secretary in charge of the organisation, stated at a news conference that “this is a big day for Congress.” Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the AICC, and Rajani Patil, the AICC’s state representative, were also present.
Mujaffar Parray, Mohinder Bhardwaj, Bhushan Dogra, Vinod Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Naresh Sharma, Ambrish Magotra, Subash Bhagat, Badri Nath Sharma, Varun Magotra, Anuradha Sharma, Vijay Targotra, and Chander Prabha Sharma are other party leaders who have re-joined the fold.
