US Dollar, Dirham worth Rs 88 lakhs Seized at Delhi Airport; , One held

New Delhi: An Indian air passenger has been apprehended by the CISF team at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, from whom foreign currency worth Rs 88 lakh has been recovered.

The passenger has been identified as Tamish Aneja. It was going to Bangkok from Delhi on Thai Airways flight number TG-332. (US Dollar and Dirham worth 88 lakhs recovered, CISF caught at Delhi’s IGI Airport)

According to a CISF spokesperson, the CISF team noticed suspicious movements of an air passenger standing in the check-in area of Terminal-3. On the basis of suspicion, he was diverted towards random checking point to check his luggage.

During the screening with the X-ray machine, the team of airport staff saw some suspicious images of currency kept hidden inside its trolley. Whose information was given to senior officials of CISF and Customs, and he was allowed to go for the check in process, and he was monitored. As soon as the passenger completed the check-in and immigration process, he was intercepted by the surveillance and intelligence team of CISF. After which the passenger was taken along with his luggage to the custom’s departure. Where his luggage was thoroughly searched. In which 55 thousand 900 US dollars and 2 lakh UAE

Dirhams (currency of UAE) were recovered. Which was cleverly kept hidden inside the middle layer of the laptop bag kept in the trolley bag. Its price in Indian rupees is being said to be Rs 88 lakh.

Rs 88 lakhs of US dollars and dirhams were recovered in interrogation of the passenger, he could not give any valid documents related to the currency in his possession. On which the CISF seized the recovered currency and handed it over to the custom along with the passenger for further action.
