Monkeypox detected in capital: Infected woman returns from Nigeria

New Delhi: One more monkeypox-infected person has been detected in the national capital New Delhi. A woman has contracted monkeypox after returning from Nigeria. After diagnosis, he was admitted to the LNGP hospital. However, with this infected person, the number of monkeypox cases in the country has increased to 13. Apart from this, a suspected infected person has also been admitted to this hospital by the Delhi government.

According to the World Health Organization, between January 1st and September 14th, cases of monkeypox infection have been reported from 103 countries. Apart from this, 59,147 cases have been detected so far. However, a total of 22 infected people have died from this disease. Last week, 4,863 infections were reported worldwide. But between August 29 and September 4, this number came to 5,026 cases. However, among them, 75.4% of the cases were detected from African countries, while 23.6% were detected from European countries.

Meanwhile, a new strain of monkeypox has been identified in the UK. UK health officials have informed about this. A man from South Africa was diagnosed with monkeypox. But the current variant was not found in his genome sequence. Later, the patient was admitted to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
