3 Maoists Killed in Encounter in Kalahandi; One CRPF Personnel Injured

Bhawanipatna: At least three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel on Tuesday in Kalahandi district. This encounter took place inside Taperenga-Ludengad forest under M. Rampur police limits.

As per reports, the face-off between the armed ultras and the security personnel occurred in the wee hours. The security personnel were involved in a combing operation when they stumbled upon the naxalites.

According to reports, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of CRPF was injured during this encounter. The injured DSP was admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital in Balangir.

Anti-Maoist operations were increased in Kalahandi following the recent naxal attack in Chhattisgarh in which 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and a civilian driver were killed on April 26. High alert was sounded in Bargarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Nuapada following the Chhattisgarh naxal ambush.
