New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party’s Shelly Oberoi won the Delhi Mayor elections on Wednesday. She became the capital city’s first woman mayor in 10 years. Interestingly Delhi got its new mayor after 75 days of formation of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
On Wednesday, the MCD made its fourth attempt to choose Delhi’s new mayor. This time voting concluded without any hiccups. Earlier three previous attempts to elect the new mayor of Delhi had failed.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Shelly Oberoi on winning the Delhi mayor elections and said, “The goons lost, the public won.” He added that “hooliganism” was defeated by the people of Delhi.

After getting elected, Shelly Oberoi pledged to run the MCD House in a constitutional manner.
