Acquitted Rape Accused Seeks Rs 10K Cr Compensation for 2-Yr Jail

Bhopal: A man from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh has demanded compensation worth Rs 10,006.02 crore from the state government after getting acquitted of gang rape charges for the two years he suffered in jail. An amount of Rs 2 lakh towards the “loss of God’s gift to humans e.g. sexual pleasure” is also included in his compensation claim.

Kantilal Bheel (35) alias Kantu has approached the district and sessions court for this compensation. He was acquitted of the gang rape charges by a local court of Ratlam on October 20, 2022. The hearing of his case for compensation against the Madhya Pradesh government and the investigators is on January 10.

In his petition, Bheel said his family of an aging mother, wife, and their three children were forced into dire poverty when he was arrested on

December 23, 2020. He alleged that in his absence his family was on the verge of starvation.

Following the gang rape complaint by a woman, Bheel had to spend nearly two years in jail.
