Around 1000 Arrested in Pakistan’s Punjab as Protests Against Imran’s Arrest Intensify

Around 1,000 persons were arrested in Pakistan’s Punjab province in relation to the violent protests that broke out after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Punjab is the most populous province of Pakistan. Pakistan Army was deployed in this province.

Among the 945 arrested persons, there were lawbreakers and miscreants from across the province. Pakistan government sources claimed that over 130 cops were injured in clashes with Imran Khan supporters. Pakistan Army has been deployed in Punjab province to maintain law and order.

Imran Khan was arrested by the paramilitary rangers in a corruption case from the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.
