Back of Young Elephant Set on Fire in Mayurbhanj as Fireballs Used to Shoo Away Elephants

Baripada: Back of a young elephant suffered serious burn injuries in the Karanjia forest range of the Mayurbhanj district as villagers threw fireballs to drive away a wild elephant herd.

A video clip of the incident shows the injured elephant running for its life as a fireball stuck to its back continued to burn.

Shukrili block under the Karanjia forest range is creating havoc in the area. This herd has already destroyed 35 houses in the area. Enraged by it, villagers started attacking the wild elephants with fireballs.
