Wild Elephant Herd Blocks NH, Disrupts Traffic in Keonjhar Dist

Keonjhar: A herd of wild elephants blocked the National Highway disrupting the traffic for more than two hours in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.

This herd of around 17 wild elephants reached the Gurubeda area under the Champua forest range on Sunday afternoon. The wild pachyderms stood on the National Highway at Gurubeda square for over two hours disrupting the traffic flow. Because of these wild elephants, hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road. This stretch of the National High Way connects Jurudi-Bamebari with Joda town.

After receiving information forest officials along with the local police reached the spot.

After some efforts, the forest officials managed to shoo away the wild elephants to the nearby forest. Following it, the traffic movement was resumed.
