Balasore Train Tragedy: 1207 Injured Discharged from Hospitals, 198 Undergoing Treatment, One Critical

Bhubaneswar: Altogether 1,009 injured passengers of the Balasore train mishap have been discharged from hospitals by Monday, said official sources. At present 198 injured passengers are being treated at various government and private hospitals in Odisha. Out of them, the condition of only one injured is said to be critical.

Following this major accident, as many as 1,207 injured passengers were admitted to various hospitals in the state.

The state government earlier announced that at least 170 bodies of the accident victims have been identified. Efforts are on to hand over the bodies to their family members.

The Odisha chief secretary has said, the help of DNA sampling may be taken to ascertain the identities of the unclaimed bodies.

Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, and a goods train met with an accident near Bahanaga station in the Balasore district of Odisha on June 2.
