Bhitarkanika National Park to be Closed from Jan 4 to 12

Kendrapada: The Bhitarkanika National Park will remain closed from  January 4 to 14 for the crocodile census. The information on closure was given by Rajnagar Forest Division Officer Sudarshan Gopinath Yadav, today.

The census will be carried out in the national park and adjoining rivers.

Crocodile expert Dr Sudhakar Kar will lead the census.

Notably, the last year’s census revealed that there were 1784 estuarine crocodiles in Bhitarkanika.
