BJP’s Rourkela Candidate Dilip Ray Declares Assets Worth Rs 300 Cr

Rourkela: Former Union minister, Dilip Ray, who is the BJP candidate for the Rourkela Assembly seat has has declared assets of around Rs 300 crore in the affidavit filed along with the nomination papers.

In 2014, he had declared his assets to be Rs 106 crore.

In his affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers, he has movable assets of more than Rs 250 crore, while his wife Pooja has assets of Rs 9.32 crore.

Ray’s immovable assets is worth Rs 45.5 crore while that of his wife is around Rs 8 crore.

He has declared liabilities in the form of bank loan of Rs 41 lakh while Pooja has another bank loan of Rs 3.72 crore.

Ray was able to contest elections after the Delhi high court stayed his conviction in an alleged coal block allocation scam in Jharkhand in 1999. At that time he was the Union minister of state with independent charge of coal ministry. In October, 2020, a trial court had sentenced him three years in jail. The Delhi HC suspended the sentence but his appeal for acquittal is still pending in the court.
