Car Runs Over Child Sleeping on Pavement in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The driver of a car lost control and the vehicle ran over a child sleeping on the footpath in Unit-II area of Bhubaneswar on Monday night.

The seriously injured victim was admitted to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the driver of the car lost control of the wheel near the slum in the backside of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. The vehicle went off the road and ran over the footpath for some time before coming to a halt after hitting a wall.

The driver of the car as well as two others inside the vehicle, preferred to escape from the spot after causing the accident. It is suspected that three of them were in an inebriated state.

Following the accident, the locals of the slum demonstrated demanding compensation for the injured child.

Personnel of the Capital police station rushed to the spot to pacify the angry locals and start an investigation into the accident.
