Couple Arrested for Throwing 5-Month-Old Daughter into Canal to Save Govt Job

Jaipur: A man and his wife were arrested by police in Rajasthan’s Bikaner for allegedly throwing their five-month-old baby daughter into a canal on Monday. According police sources, the couple had resorted to this gruesome act in an attempt to save the government job of the husband.

The baby girl downed to death. The accused husband has been identified as one Jhanwarlal, who served as a contractual school assistant in Chandasar village. In December 2022, he had furnished an affidavit, in which he claimed to be having two children. But at that time he had a third newborn baby at home.

He feared that as per the government norms, he may lose his government job in the school because of having more than two children. Because of his third child, chances of his contractual job getting regularized were also at stake. So, the couple took the drastic decision to murder their third child.

Rajasthan police received information that a man and a woman had thrown a baby into the canal in Chhattargarh, Bikaner. The body of the deceased baby girl was recovered from the canal.

The investigation led to the arrest of the couple, who were found to be the parents of the dead baby girl.
