Delhi Excise Policy Scam: CBI Arrests Ex-CA of Telangana CM’s Daughter

New Delhi: CBI on Thursday arrested the former chartered accountant (CA) of K. Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) in relation to the Delhi excise policy scam.

The arrested Hyderabad-based CA Butchibabu Gorantla is the former CA of Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha.

During the investigation of the Delhi excise policy scam, CBI found the involvement of a south-based group, which was represented by Butchibabu, K. Kavitha, and some others.

According to reports, Butchibabu had a key role in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy, because of which the Hyderabad-based wholesale and retail licensees and their beneficial owners benefitted under the Delhi excise policy for the year 2021-22.

Gorantle will be produced in the court on Thursday. The CBI is expected to take him on remand for interrogation.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. It is expected to file a supplementary charge sheet for which more evidence is being collected.

In the coming days, the CBI is expected to issue summons to some key political players as the south group had ample political connections.
