Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Manish Sisodia to be in Judicial Custody Till April 5

New Delhi: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday sent former deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia to judicial custody till April 5. A day back Sisodia moved his bail petition in the Rouse Avenue Court in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy.

On Wednesday Sisodia was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on the expiry of his custody under the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The ED arrested Sisodia on March 9 in the Tihar jail. He had been earlier arrested by the CBI in connection with the excise policy case and lodged in Tihar jail.

The ED alleged that Sisodia was involved in “large-scale destruction of digital evidence to impede investigation” into the Delhi liquor policy case and had changed and destroyed 14 phones. Added to it, ED also alleged that Sisodia had withheld information which is in his “exclusive knowledge” and “extremely relevant to the investigation”.

Earlier, the central agency told the court that Sisodia was “actually involved in the activity connected to the acquisition, possession and use of proceeds of crime” and “therefore guilty of the offence of money laundering”.

During the hearing, Manish Sisodia urged the court that he wanted to read some more books in jail. Responding to this, the court said that the books Sisodia wants will be given to him.
