Ecstasy, Magic Mushrooms Legalized in Australia for Treatment of Mental Disorder

Psychedelic drugs like MDMA or ecstasy and magic mushrooms were legalized in Australia for use in the treatment of certain mental ailments. Australia is the first country in the world to take such a decision.

Now, party drug ecstasy, or MDMA can be used by Australian psychiatrists, to treat patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Psychiatrists will also be allowed to use magic mushrooms for some types of depression, reported BBC.

But such therapy will cost tens of thousands of dollars for each course, reported Australian media.

MDMA is a synthetic drug that produces hallucinogenic effects, increases sensory experiences, enhances energy levels, and distorts the sense of time. Magic mushrooms are also hallucinogens.
