Election Commission to Declare Karnataka Assembly Poll Dates Today

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India will declare the schedule for the Karnataka Assembly elections today at 11.30 am at a press conference at 11.30 am in New Delhi for the purpose.

Meanwhile, Congress has announced the names of 124 candidates for the assembly elections on March 25. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will contest from Varuna and Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar will contest from the Kanakapura constituency.

On March 20, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released the first list comprising 80 candidates who will contest in the Karnataka Assembly election. The party is planning to field candidates in all the 224 Assembly segments in Karnataka.

Karnataka has 224 Assembly constituencies in six regions – Bengaluru, Central, Coastal, Hyderabad-Karnataka, Mumbai-Karnataka, and Southern Karnataka. Mumbai-Karnataka and Southern Karnataka are the largest regions of the state and consist of 50 and 51 Assembly seats respectively.
