Extramarital Affair: Youth Beaten to Death in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A youth named Sunaram Tudu (25) was allegedly beaten to death over suspicion of having an extra-marital affair in Kenduchatia village of Bhaliadiha panchayat under Betanoti police station limits in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday. The deceased was a resident of Gandigodha village of Sureidihi panchayat.

It is alleged that he was tied up to a tree and was ruthlessly beaten up throughout the night, which led to his death. Bapun Tudu and his father Jasaya Tudu were the assailants. Jasaya suspected that the deceased was having extramarital affair with his wife.

On Monday, during the dance that follows traditional Jahira puja Sunaram and Jasaya’s wife disappeared from the spot. Later Jasaya allegedly caught them in a compromising position at a secluded spot.

Enraged by it, Jasaya and his son overpowered Sunaram and tied him up to a tree with a rope. They and thrashed him with logs and bamboo poles to kill him on the on the spot.

Police have detained both the accused for interrogation and a probe is underway.
