Former Cong CM of Andhra Pradesh Embraces Saffron Fold of BJP

New Delhi: Former Congress Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy joined the BJP on Thursday. His joining ceremony was held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. BJP leader and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi inducted him into the BJP.

Kiran Kumar Reddy was the last CM of the undivided Andhra Pradesh. A few weeks ago he left Congress. He sent a one-line resignation letter to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

In 2014, Kiran Kumar resigned from the Congress party to protest against the then UPA government’s decision to divide Andhra Pradesh for the formation of Telangana. He formed his own party ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’ and also gave candidates in some constituencies. But his party could not get any support and did not grow. This prompted Kiran Kumar to stay away from politics for a long time before he rejoined Congress again in 2018. Now he plans to leave Congress again to join the BJP.
