Former Koraput CDMO Sentenced to 2-Yr Jail in Graft Case

Koraput: The Jeypore Special Judge, Vigilance in Koraput district sentenced former CDMO, Dr K Haribandhu Reddy to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for misappropriation of public money, on Thursday.

According to a Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack, release, Dr K Haribandhu Reddy, former Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Koraput was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for misappropriation of government funds meant for implementation of Enhanced Malaria Control Programme (EMCP) in the district.

The vigilance court convicted the doctor in the case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay fine of Rs 10,000. In default of payment of fine, he will undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months on each count.

Odisha Vigilance will also initiate measures for the stoppage of the pension of Dr Reddy following his conviction.
