1 Dead, Several Hospitalized After Deadly Ammonia Gas Leak in Bihar Dairy Factory

Vaishali: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at a dairy factory in Bihar’s Vaishali, resulting in the death of one worker and the hospitalization of several others due to an ammonia gas leak. The incident occurred between 10-10.30 pm while the workers were inside the building carrying out their daily tasks.

As soon as the gas leak was noticed, the workers rushed outside to save themselves. Unfortunately, in the panic, one worker fell and lost his life, according to Rajiv Kumar, the manager of the factory, Raj Fresh Dairy.

The manager reported that the gas leak took place around 10.05 pm. Although 7-8 workers were exposed to the gas, they quickly recovered. The situation is now under control, and efforts are being made to restore normalcy in the plant.

Authorities received information about the ammonia gas leakage from an ammonium cylinder at Raj Fresh Dairy. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to control the situation. Some labourers were admitted to the hospital, but their condition is stable.

The affected labourers are currently receiving medical treatment and are being closely monitored. While they are out of danger, medical professionals are observing their progress.

One of the hospitalized labourers, Shankar Kumar, described the incident, stating that smoke was suddenly noticed during their work, prompting everyone to evacuate. Unfortunately, they inhaled some of the poisonous gas, causing dizziness. However, most of them are feeling better now.

Krishna, another worker at the factory, mentioned that the ammonia pipe had leaked, leading to panic. Thankfully, the pipe was repaired and controlled in a timely manner. Despite the quick response, significant damage occurred within minutes. Krishna expressed relief at feeling much better now.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the leakage to prevent future incidents. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining safety measures in industrial settings to ensure the well-being of workers.
