Girl Student of VSSUT Burla Ends Life by Jumping from PC Bridge in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A final year engineering girl student of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla of Odisha’s Sambalpur district committed suicide by jumping off the Power Channel Bridge on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Chinmayi Priyadarshani Sahu from the Rampur area of Kalahandi district. She was a final year student in the Information Technology department at the university.

According to sources, Chinmayi attended the convocation ceremony of the institute on Tuesday evening and later went to a nearby power channel along with her friend. There, she suddenly jumped into the deep water of the power channel from the bridge.

On receiving information, Burla police and personnel from the Burla Fire Services launched an extensive search in the power channel last night but could not trace the girl’s body. The search operation is still underway.

The reason behind taking such an extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
