Here Tomatoes sell for Rs 250/Kg, Know Where

New Delhi: While the rate of tomatoes remains above Rs 100 per Kg in most areas of the country, it has soared to a record height of Rs 250 per Kg in Gangotri Dham of Uttarakhand. Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 180 to 200 per Kg in Uttarkashi district.

It is tourist season in Uttarakhand and Chardham Yatra continues. In Gangotri, Yamunotri, tomatoes are going at Rs 200 to Rs 250 per kg. Heat wave condition in key tomato-growing areas, along with heavy rains has affected tomato production and its supply throughout the country. Sudden temperature rise in March and April, resulted in pest attacks on the tomato crop.

In Odisha, tomatoes are being sold at around Rs 120 per Kg. In Chennai, the current rate of tomatoes is Rs 100-130 per kg. The Tamil Nadu government has started selling tomatoes at a subsidized rate of Rs 60 per kg at ration shops in Chennai.

Tomato prices in Bengaluru range from Rs 100 to 120 per kilogram.
