Illegal Broker Menace in Bhubaneswar AIIMS; 12 Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Twelve touts were arrested by Khandagiri police from the premises of the AIIMS in Bhubaneswar today. The arrested persons were acting like brokers to extort money from innocents in the name of providing hospital tickets.

According to sources, after receiving several complaints, Khandagiri police had prepared a detailed plan to nab these elusive touts. A group of police personnel reached the AIIMS campus posing as patients and their relatives. They were immediately offered help by the touts for a price. It was found that these touts were collecting Rs 5000 from gullible patients and their relatives to provide hospital tickets in black.

The police team tracked down 12 such brokering touts, who were arrested. They are being interrogated to unearth more details of the racket.

It may be noted that a few days back, Berhampur police had taken up a similar operation at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. A team of disguised police officials had nabbed six touts.
