‘Islam Nagar’ in MP Renamed ‘Jagdishpur’ With Immediate Effect

Bhopal: From now on ‘Islam Nagar’ village in Bhopal District will be officially called ‘Jagdishpur’. A Madhya Pradesh government notification announced that ‘Islam Nagar’ village, situated in the Bhopal district, has been renamed Jagdishpur. On Wednesday, the MP government declared the change in the name of the village to be implemented with immediate effect.

In the press note, the Madhya Pradesh government announced that the decision was conveyed by the Central government’s Ministry of Home Affairs. It also stated that the Central Home Ministry had issued the renaming on September 15, 2022.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh renamed two other places having Islamic names in February 2021. Hoshangabad in MP was renamed Narmadapuram. Similarly, Nasrullahganj was renamed as Bhairunda.
