Mamata Starts 2-Day Dharna Against BJP-led Centre’s “Stepmotherly” Attitude Towards Bengal

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee started a two-day dharna in Kolkata on Wednesday to target the BJP ahead of the panchayat polls in the state.

The Bengal CM is holding this protest demonstration at Ambedkar statue in Kolkata. She alleged the BJP-led centre is withholding funds to her state. She is protesting against the policies of the centre and its “stepmotherly” attitude towards Bengal. She slammed the Central government for not clearing funds for several schemes in Bengal including 100 days work under MGNREGA.

Through this dharna Mamata Banerjee has started setting the pitch for Trinamool’s campaign for the 2024 general election. She has already announced that it will contest the Lok Sabha polls alone and is exploring ways to forge an alliance of regional parties sans the Congress.
