Man with Gun Barges Into Classroom Panicking Students, Teacher in WB

Kolkata: Holding a revolver in hand a person barged into a classroom of a high school in West Bengal’s Malda district on Wednesday. He was later overpowered by police and arrested.

The gun-wielding man entered the Muchia Anchal Chandra Mohan High School campus in the Old Malda area. He entered the classroom of Class-8 students and shouted at the students. He threatened to kill them and their teacher.

After receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and the unidentified man was overpowered to be taken into custody. One pistol, a knife, and two bottles containing some liquid were seized from his possession.

The man claimed that he behaved in this manner to highlight the fact that his son and wife were missing for a year. Through this act, he wanted to put pressure on the administration and police to take action regarding it.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee praised the police for disarming and arresting the man in time. She alleged that the entire matter may have been a plot. “Case of the man brandishing a gun at Malda school may not be an act of lunacy,” the chief minister told media at the state secretariat.
