Mithun Chakraborty’s Mother Passes Away in Mumbai

Mithun Chakraborty’s mother, Shantirani Chakraborty, breathed her last on Friday. Mithun used to live with her in Mumbai. Mithun’s friend, Vijay Upadhyay, confirmed this sad news.

Three years back, Mithun Chakraborty lost his father, Basantakumar Chakraborty, at the age of 95.

Mithun was born and brought up in Calcutta. He is currently busy with the shoot of Dance Bangla Dance.

He is popular as Mithun Da. His cine career started with Mrigayaa (1976) for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor. He has also won two more National Film Awards for his roles in Tahader Katha (1992) and Swami Vivekananda (1998). He also acted in The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri.

Mithun is now with the BJP but he became a Member of Parliament after being nominated for the Rajya Sabha by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her All India Trinamool Congress (TMC).
