Triple Train Accident: CBI Grills 3 Arrested Railway Officials in Chandaka PS

Bhubaneswar: A five-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reached the Chandaka police station in Bhubaneswar on Saturday to interrogate the three arrested Railway officials.

It is the second day of the five day remand of these arrested railway officials. The triple train accident at Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Balasore district on June 2 has claimed 293 lives.

On Friday, a special CBI court in Bhubaneswar had CBI to take three arrested Railway officials on five-day remand for further investigation. The arrested persons included Senior Section Engineer (signal) at Balasore Arun Kumar Mahanta, Senior Section Engineer (signal) at Soro Muhammad Amir Khan and Technician at Balasore Pappu Kumar. They were booked under Sections 304 and 201 of the IPC and Section 153 of the Railways Act.

Earlier, the CBI had raided the rented house of Amir Khan at Soro in Balasore district and sealed it. The CBI also had questioned Banahanga Bazar Railway Station Master SP Mohanty.
