Mother Flees After Throwing Minor Daughter Into Well in Odisha’s Ganjam

Ganjam: A woman allegedly threw her six-year-old daughter into a well and fled the village in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to sources, the minor girl, identified as Sneharani Jena of Konkorada village under Patapur police limits in the district. She was sleeping in her house on Saturday night when her mother took her to a well in the village and threw her into it.

As the girl cried for help, some villagers rushed to the spot and brought her out. They informed the minor’s grandmother Sajani Jena and took the girl to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Adapada. The girl’s condition was stated to be stable.

“I saw my daughter-in-law taking Sneharani out of the house. Later, I was informed by the villagers that Sneharani was inside the well and crying for help. My daughter-in-law has been missing after the incident,” said Sajani Jena.

She filed a complaint with the local police in this regard. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding mother and registered a case.
