Nationwide Bank Strike on Jan 30-31 Deferred

New Delhi: The two-day nationwide bank strike on January 30 and 31 was deferred by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). The strike call was postponed following an understanding at the conciliation meeting held in Mumbai, said C.H.Venkatachalam, General Secretary, All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA).

Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has agreed to hold a meeting with the unions on January 31.

As decided in the Friday meeting, three major issues, demand for five-day banking, updation of pension, and restoration of the old pension scheme, will be discussed during the January 31 meeting.

The UFBU, which is the association of several bank unions had given the strike call to press for demands that included- five days banking, updation of pension, residual issues, scrapping of National Pension System (NPS), immediate starting of negotiation on charter of demands for wage revision, and adequate recruitment in all cadres.
