Odisha Minister & DM Ride Auto-Rickshaw Driven by Woman on Republic Day

Deogarh: State’s Women & Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram and District Magistrate of Odisha’s Deogarh district Somesh Kumar Upadhyay rode an auto-rickshaw driven by a woman on Republic Day to showcase woman empowerment in the state.

The minister and District Collector visited the village by taking a ride in the three-wheeler. The auto-rickshaw driver, identified as  Rajkishori Tete of Gajaribani village under Tileibani block was pleased with the moment.

Reportedly, after her husband’s death, to earn a livelihood for herself and her children, she became an auto-rickshaw driver.

She carries patients from the village to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital and passengers from the locality to Deogarh town in the vehicle. Due to her polite behaviour, people, especially women, prefer to travel in her auto-rickshaw.

Rajkishori Tete set an example for all the women feeling helpless after becoming the first woman auto-rickshaw driver in the district.
