No Pre-Departure Covid-19 Test For Travellers from these Countries to India

New Delhi: Travellers coming from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan to India will no longer have to do pre-departure COVID-19 testing from Monday.

Earlier, they had to upload the Covid test report on Air Suvidha portal. However, the random testing of two per cent of travellers coming to India will continue to monitor infections from mutated variants of SARS-CoV-2.

In a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that these Countries are witnessing a sustained and significant decline in the trajectory of COVID-19 cases.

He said India has also continued to witness a declining trajectory, with less than one hundred new cases per day being reported. As per World Health Organization’s latest situational update on COVID-19, a decline of 89 per cent has been noted globally in the number of newly confirmed cases in the past 28 days.
